Senior Controller (Multi-Unit)

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Senior Controller will oversee our entire finance team across accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance for our high-growth company of 52 centers (& counting!). This role ensures the integrity of financial information, supports in-center & corporate operations, and provides actionable insights to drive profitability and operational excellence.The ideal candidate brings deep experience in retail accounting and multi-state revenue environments (brick-and-mortar), along with strong leadership and process optimization skills.RequirementsFinancial Reporting & Accounting Operations Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP Ensure accurate revenue recognition across all centers Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures Inventory & Retail Accounting Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, reserves, and cost of goods sold Support new store openings and retail expansion initiatives with financial oversight Internal Controls & Compliance Establish and maintain strong internal control frameworks Establish annual business insurance renewals and assist with 401k management. Ensure compliance with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory requirements Coordinate annual audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks Budgeting, Forecasting & AnalysisPartner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting processes Conduct weekly cash forecasting, along with Loan Reporting & Covenant Calculations Provide variance analysis and performance insights to executive leadership Develop KPIs for retail productivity, inventory turnover, and margin performance Support strategic initiatives including new product launches and promotional campaigns Systems & Process Improvement Optimize ERP and retail systems to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency Lead automation and process improvement initiatives Ensure proper integration between POS and accounting systems QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required6+ years in a Controller or Senior Controller role with 3+ years managing a teamMulti-unit experience overseeing a minimum of 40 locations required; retail or beauty experience strongly preferredStrong understanding of multi-state environmentsExperience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Rippling, or similar HRIS platforms)Advanced Excel skills; experience with retail/POS integrationsProven ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment Working Conditions:The working conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
