As a Senior Compliance Accountant, you will be an integral part of our team, working closely with cross-functional departments to ensure our financial practices are in strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive compliance monitoring programs to ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies. Conduct regular audits of financial records to verify compliance with internal controls and external regulations, identifying areas for improvement. Prepare detailed compliance reports for senior management, highlighting any areas of concern or non-compliance, and providing actionable recommendations. Collaborate with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams to ensure the organization's financial practices are in strict compliance with all applicable laws and standards. Assist in the development and revision of financial policies and procedures to ensure they meet regulatory requirements, and implement compliance policies across the organization. Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related issues and policy updates, promoting a culture of compliance within the organization. Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities and findings. Liaise with regulatory bodies and respond to inquiries or audits, ensuring effective communication and cooperation. Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks, working closely with the Risk Management team to assess the impact of regulatory changes on the company's operations. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to financial compliance, recommending and implementing improvements to the compliance function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Essential Qualifications and Competencies To excel as a Senior Compliance Accountant at Piedmont Airlines, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong academic record. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting or auditing, with three (3) years focused on compliance, demonstrating a deep understanding of financial regulations and compliance principles. Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, and relevant regulatory frameworks, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify areas for improvement. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently, with a high degree of accuracy and precision. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex financial information to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to adapt to new systems and technologies. The ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, prioritizing tasks and managing workload effectively. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and expertise in financial compliance.
