Who We Need:
The Senior Communications Specialist learns and gathers information about our internal technology, systems, and processes and writes and edits internal communication releases and articles for the intranet, emails, videos, and other areas as needed. This position also supports content placement and file storage for the company intranet. The preferred candidate has strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and a broad understanding of writing for a niche audience. The candidate must have the ability to follow style guides, work in a fast-paced work environment, and a willingness to learn.
What You Will Do:
Bring the Cardinal Financial brands tone and voice to life to maintain consistency across company-wide communication.
Write internal communications posts for the intranet and email, plus occasional video scripts, process documentation, and other assignments as needed.
Partner effectively with internal clients and cross-functional team members to perform necessary writing, copyediting, and/or proofreading needs.
Conduct research on the product, technology, mortgage industry, or other topics related to the request.
Monitor and respond to user-generated comments to engage and encourage ongoing communication with employees.
Help maintain the content management systems and front-end user interface based on the needs of internal clients.
Write about technical concepts in a way that can be understood by the intended audience.
Deliver copy on time and partner effectively with internal clients for approval or feedback.
Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Post communications to the intranet (Wordpress).
What You Need:
Bachelors degree or higher in professional writing, business writing, English, communications, or journalism.
Online writing portfolio and/or related written samples.
3-5 years of experience in copywriting, journalism, communications, or technical writing role.
Experience in or knowledge of mortgage, financial services, or banking is a plus.
Must be fluent in Google Apps (i.e., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.).
Possesses project management skills (experience using Asana, Basecamp, Slack, Trello, or similar platform is a plus).
Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style is a plus. Training will be provided.
Intranet management and blog, article, press release, news, or other writing experience is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work and communicate with the team in an online collaboration platform.
