Senior Bookkeeper - Remote
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial software, and industry-specific standards. This role offers the opportunity to manage complex bookkeeping tasks, prepare financial reports, and ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. The Senior Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records for diverse clients, including non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and corporate clients.
Responsibilities
• Manage and perform general ledger accounting, including account reconciliation and journal entries
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with precision and timeliness
• Prepare detailed financial reports, including financial statement writing and account analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and applicable accounting regulations
• Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools to record transactions accurately
• Perform double-entry bookkeeping and maintain proper debits & credits in all accounts
• Assist with payroll processing and tax-related activities as needed
• Support budgeting processes and provide insights for financial planning
• Conduct general ledger reconciliation regularly to maintain data integrity
• Collaborate with clients on technical accounting issues and provide expert guidance on financial concepts
• Manage other junior bookkeepers
Qualifications
• Proven experience in corporate accounting and non-profit accounting.
• Proficiency with multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks online, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other relevant tools
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts
• Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management
• Knowledge of tax procedures related to bookkeeping activities
• Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in account analysis and account reconciliation
• Strong experience and knowledge of excel / google sheets, including vlookup and pivot tables.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial report writing
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple accounts remotely
• Prior experience in public accounting or technical accounting is preferred
• Experience in managing junior bookkeepers is preferred
