Senior Bookkeeper (Client-Facing | High Ownership Role)

The Role (Read This Twice Before Applying)

We’re hiring a Senior Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of clients with minimal oversight.

This role requires someone who can:

- Walk into a set of books and quickly assess what’s wrong

- Clean it up without creating more problems

- Keep it clean moving forward—consistently

You’ll be trusted to own your work, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly with both our team and clients.

If you’re looking for step-by-step instructions or someone checking your work daily, this is not the role.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

- Full-cycle bookkeeping across multiple client accounts in QuickBooks Online

- Monthly reconciliations (bank, credit card, loans) that tie—every time

- Reviewing financials for accuracy, not just completion

- Identifying and resolving discrepancies, uncategorized activity, and data gaps

- Delivering financial reports that don’t require translation

- Maintaining clean, audit-ready books and organized documentation

- Communicating directly with clients when needed—clear, concise, and confident

- Supporting and improving internal workflows and systems

What Strong Candidates Already Do

- Catch errors before they become issues

- Ask smart, specific questions—not broad, avoidable ones

- Manage multiple clients without dropping deadlines

- Keep their work clean enough that someone else can step in without confusion

- Understand the why behind the numbers—not just the process

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

- 5+ years of hands-on QuickBooks Online experience

- Strong understanding of accrual vs. cash basis and when it matters

- Experience managing multiple clients or accounts independently

- Proven ability to reconcile accounts accurately without “plugging” differences

- Clear, direct written communication

- Ability to prioritize and execute without constant follow-up

- Reliable remote work setup

Strongly Preferred

- Experience with automotive, trades, or service-based businesses

- Familiarity with shop management systems (Tekmetric is a plus)

- Familiarity with Double's task management system and client portal

- Cleanup/catch-up project experience

- Experience supporting month-end close
