Position: Senior Azure Architect Location: Remote Duration: 3+ Months Job Description: seeking a to assist with the implementation of a database to collect extensive energy data to allow the automation of manual processes and to integrate data feeds from external sources to replace manual collection efforts where possible. • Azure SQL Database design, implementation, and optimization. • Python-based ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory. • Azure Blob Storage management. • Integration with Power BI and external utility systems (e.g., NEPOOL GIS, ISO-NE). • Security & compliance (RBAC, encryption). • Documentation, training, and knowledge transfer. Role Summary The Senior Azure Architect will design and guide the implementation of the Azure cloud architecture for the PSD’s centralized database solution. The role ensures scalability, security, compliance, and seamless integration with Power BI and external systems. Key Responsibilities • Define Azure infrastructure for SQL Database, Data Factory, and Blob Storage. • Develop integration strategies with existing PSD systems and third-party utilities. • Ensure compliance with Vermont Cybersecurity Standard 23-01. • Design for performance, availability, and disaster recovery. • Collaborate with PSD and ADS staff to refine technical and business requirements. • Provide technical oversight for testing, validation, and optimization. • Deliver architecture documentation and security configuration policies. Required Skills/Experience • 10+ years of IT experience, with at least 5 years in Azure architecture. • Expertise in Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Blob Storage, and Power BI integration. • Strong knowledge of ETL, APIs, and cloud security. • Hands-on experience with RBAC, encryption, monitoring, and cost optimization. Required Certifications • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (required). • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (preferred). • Microsoft Certified: Cybersecurity Architect Expert (preferred).
