Senior Azure Application Architect / Code Audit Consultant - USA
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Application Architect to conduct a focused, two-week architecture and code audit of a custom web application currently hosted on Microsoft Azure. The goal is to assess performance, simplify the application footprint, evaluate and restructure underlying data architecture, and produce a prioritized remediation roadmap. Scope of Work - Perform full architectural review of the application’s backend, frontend, APIs, and integrations. - Conduct code audit focusing on performance, scalability, maintainability, and best practices. - Identify feature bloat and propose feature rationalization strategy. - Analyze current data structures and database schema; recommend improved modeling and indexing. - Review Azure infrastructure and resource utilization for optimal performance and cost. - Provide a detailed assessment report with findings, prioritized recommendations, timeline estimates, and implementation sequencing. Key Responsibilities - Profile and diagnose performance bottlenecks across the codebase and queries. - Outline phased remediation actions, grouped by complexity and expected impact. - Define target-state data architecture aligned to current functional needs and future scalability. - Communicate technical findings to both technical and business stakeholders. Required Experience & Qualifications - 8+ years professional experience in software engineering and application architecture. - Deep expertise in Azure application architecture, resource configuration, and monitoring. - Strong experience with .NET / C# backend systems. - Proven track record in database design, performance tuning, and query optimization. - Ability to produce clear, actionable, and business-aligned remediation plans. - Experience working in assessment and consulting-style engagements is a plus. Nice to Have - Knowledge of Azure DevOps pipelines, IaC, and observability best practices. - Familiarity with performance tracing tools such as Application Insights Profiler. Engagement Details - 2-week structured assessment engagement. - Remote with availability for scheduled stakeholder sessions. - Deliverables include assessment report, improvement roadmap, and recommended architecture adjustments.
