As a Senior Analyst, you'll be part of this team, working closely with Business Unit Risk teams to enhance decision processes, address major credit issues, and drive business growth. Key Responsibilities: Leading Credit Risk Oversight and Driving Business Growth Conduct independent portfolio monitoring and credit risk assessments to identify potential risks and opportunities Develop and maintain automated monitoring rules to ensure effective risk management Review credit risk processes to ensure they are aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements Collaborate with Business Unit Risk teams to enhance decision processes and address major credit issues Analyze trends in the charge and lending portfolios and conduct deep dive analysis to understand key drivers Support the development of next-generation risk capabilities, such as Smart Monitoring Produce credit risk dashboards for AXP Risk Committees, including tracking risk appetite metrics Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate To be successful in this role, you'll need: 2+ years of credit experience in Banking, Credit Risk Management, or review experience Knowledge of financial statement analysis, including an understanding of key financial ratios and the ability to form independent opinions on credit and recognize emerging risks Familiarity with banking regulations, particularly those imposed by OCC and Federal Reserve Knowledge of macroeconomic trends and their impact on borrower repayment Analytical skills and business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective Experience with data-driven analytical tools, such as SQL, SAS, HIVE/HADOOP, R, or Python (a plus) Ability to clearly communicate findings to credit risk peers, business partners, and senior leaders Demonstrated courage to challenge the status quo and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues across the Company Self-starter with natural curiosity to solve problems Bachelor's degree with a degree (or substantial coursework) in finance, accounting, economics, or statistics Skills and Competencies: What We're Looking For To excel in this role, you'll need to possess: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Strong business acumen and risk management skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Career Growth Opportunities: Growing with American Express At American Express, we're committed to helping our colleagues grow and develop their careers.
