The company maintains compliance standards to ensure operational integrity, safeguard client interests, and uphold the highest levels of financial governance. Role Overview: The Senior AML Compliance Analyst supports the AML Compliance Officer (AMLO) in ensuring Cryptonow’s compliance with Austrian and European legal requirements for the prevention of money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CTF) with respect to Cryptonow’s Austrian business operations. This position plays a critical role in identifying and mitigating financial crime risks, ensuring the company’s compliance with applicable AML regulations including the FMA Circular on internal organization and the Austrian Financial Markets Anti-Money Laundering Act (FM-GwG), and providing guidance to junior team members. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of AML frameworks, investigative expertise, and a proactive approach to risk management. Key Responsibilities: • Perform in-depth investigations of potentially suspicious transactions and customer activity. • Assist in reviewing and documenting PEP and sanctions screening results, ensuring proper escalation and decision-making in alignment with the AML policy. • Prepare, review and file Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in accordance with regulatory requirements. • Oversee and conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers. • Review complex customer profiles and transaction monitoring alerts with a risk-based approach. • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts; review and quality-check their work. • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g. Legal, Risk, Operations) to address AML/CFT-related matters. • Stay current with evolving AML/CFT regulations, sanctions and industry best practices. • Assist in the development and maintenance of AML/CFT policies, procedures, risk assessments and reporting. • Support regulatory audits and internal compliance reviews. • Identify process improvements to enhance AML/CFT controls and efficiencies. Qualifications: • Hands-On experience in Compliance / AML teams with relevant industry certifications and training are preferred. • At least 3 years of experience in the financial industry, with a preference for experience in a regulated FMA CASP crypto- or banking industry. • Knowledge of FMA Austria regulations, EU MiCAR, and AML/CFT/Sanctions requirements. • Experience in assisting with the development and implementation of compliance programs. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and provide practical compliance solutions. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and guide employees on compliance matters. • Detail-oriented with a high degree of integrity and professionalism. • Fluency in German and English is required.
