Senior Agronomist - Sustainable Agriculture

Our client, a pioneering firm in sustainable agriculture technology, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Agronomist to join their innovative team. This critical role will focus on developing and implementing advanced agronomic strategies that promote environmental stewardship, enhance crop yields, and improve soil health. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of plant science, soil science, and modern farming techniques, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for fieldwork and collaboration with research teams, based near the hub of innovation in San Francisco, California . Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and manage research programs focused on sustainable crop production systems. Conduct field trials and experiments to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, soil amendments, and pest management strategies. Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to assess nutrient levels, health, and potential deficiencies. Provide expert agronomic advice and technical support to growers, research partners, and internal teams. Research and recommend best practices for water management, nutrient application, and integrated pest management (IPM). Monitor crop development, identify potential issues (diseases, pests, environmental stress), and recommend appropriate interventions. Analyze data from field trials and farm operations to identify trends, optimize practices, and inform future strategies. Stay current with the latest advancements in agronomy, agricultural technology, and sustainable farming methods. Contribute to the development of educational materials and training programs for farmers and stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including plant breeders, soil scientists, and data analysts, to achieve research objectives. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations in all fieldwork and research activities. Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Agronomy, Soil Science, Plant Science, or a related agricultural discipline. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in agronomy, crop management, or agricultural research, with a focus on sustainable practices. Strong knowledge of plant physiology, soil chemistry, entomology, and pathology. Proven experience in designing and conducting field trials and analyzing experimental data. Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies and data management software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both field and office environments. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various farm sites. Knowledge of organic farming principles and regenerative agriculture is a plus.
