About the position
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our team. The Accountant will be responsible for assisting in recurring accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries, maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger, preparing basic financial reports and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Ā Preparing journal entries and maintaining a complete and accurate general ledger

Ā Preparing basic financial reports and monitoring internal controls over financial reporting

Ā Assisting in recurring accounting analyses and account reconciliations
,
Ā Developing supporting workpapers and documentation
,
Ā Interacting with staff, management, and other customers in a friendly, courteous, professional and helpful manner
,
Ā Analyzing accounting transactions and issues
,
Ā Preparing and analyzing financial statements and other internal/external financial reports
,
Ā Enhancing internal controls over financial reporting
,
Ā Providing functional advice or training to less-experienced accountant positions
,
Ā Directing the work of other staff members
Requirements
Ā A Bachelor's degree in business discipline with at least 3 accounting courses
,
Ā Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word
,
Ā Excellent written and oral communication skills
,
Ā 5 years accounting experience for Senior Accountant position
Nice-to-haves
Ā CPA or CMA exam eligibility
,
Ā 0-2 years related work experience, including co-operative/internship experience
,
Ā Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
,
Ā CPA or CMA certification or MBA
,
Ā Minimum of 2 to 4 years of accounting-related experience in public accounting, SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

Ā Experience in utility accounting, public accounting and SEC reporting, and a working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
