Remote Full-time
About Us: Monarch is a powerful, all-in-one personal finance platform designed to help make the complexity of finances feel simple again. Since launching in 2021, we’ve become the top-recommended personal finance app by users and experts. Our goal? To take the stress out of finances so our members can focus on what truly matters. We are a team of do-ers led by experienced entrepreneurs who are passionate about helping our members reach their financial goals. We are hyper focused on building a product people love and continuing to evolve based on user feedback. As a fully remote company (even before COVID!), we welcome applicants from almost anywhere. Our team collaborates synchronously mostly from 9 AM – 2 PM PT and embraces asynchronous work to stay connected across time zones. Join us on our mission to transform lives by simplifying money, together. The Role: Monarch is seeking a Security Engineer with a focus on AI to join our Security Engineering team during a period of hyper-growth. Reporting directly to the Head of Software Infrastructure, you will support both core security operations and specialized AI security initiatives. You’ll help protect Monarch’s applications, infrastructure, and data through continuous monitoring, incident response, and risk management, while also leading efforts to secure agentic AI systems and integrations. As the AI Security subject matter expert (SME), you’ll design and implement controls across AI/ML environments, strengthen our detection and response capabilities, and ensure alignment with Monarch’s AI security standards. This role is critical in maintaining the security and integrity of Monarch’s technology ecosystem as we scale rapidly and adopt emerging AI technologies. What You’ll Do: • Support ongoing security operations — including monitoring, alerting, incident response, third-party risk assessment, and vulnerability tracking — as part of the Monarch Information Security Team’s weekly on-call rotation. • Assess and monitor Monarch’s applications, infrastructure, and processes for security and privacy risks by conducting threat modeling, enforcing existing controls, and implementing new measures where gaps are identified. • Design and implement security controls for agentic AI deployment architecture, agent tooling integrations, model training, deployment, and inference environments, acting as the AI security SME. • Partner with the AI/ML team to develop and maintain detection systems for anomalies, data drift, and model abuse, enhancing visibility and resilience across the AI lifecycle. • Enforce secure AI development practices in alignment with industry and Monarch-specific AI security standards. What You’ll Bring: • 5+ years of experience in security engineering, with at least 2 years securing multi-agent AI systems, ML data pipelines, or model deployments. • Proficiency in Python and JavaScript, with strong knowledge of application security, cloud security (AWS or GCP), and AI agent development. • Hands-on experience leading security investigations and incident response efforts in complex, cloud-based environments. • Advanced understanding of AI/ML security, including adversarial AI/ML TTPs, model and data protection techniques, and frameworks such as MITRE ATLAS and NIST AI RMF. • Familiarity with Risk Management frameworks and execution against SOC2, NIST 800-53, and ISO standards. • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with machine learning, legal, and compliance teams; self-motivated and comfortable managing multiple priorities. • Experience working in a high-growth startup or fast-paced environment. Nice to Have’s: • Experience conducting application security reviews or penetration tests against applications integrating agentic AI components. • Familiarity with secure coding for ML and AI systems, data lineage, and model governance frameworks. • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, OSCP, or MLSecOps. Typical Process: • Recruiter Video Call • Hiring Manager Video Call • Take Home Assignment • Virtual “Onsite” Round (2-4 rounds) • Reference Checks • Offer! Benefits : • Work wherever you want!
