Job title: Seasonal Pool Manager Company: City of Apple Valley Job description: SUMMARY OF POSITION Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Pool Manager will supervise, train and develop the staff. Lead customer service efforts for the facility. Oversee the maintenance, security and cleanliness of the Apple Valley Family Aquatic Center or Redwood Outdoor Pool. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Supervise and review cash handling, staff performance and personnel levels on a daily basis. • Provide reports and other data as requested by the Recreation Supervisor and other City Departments. • Provide discipline and commendation to staff members as needed to ensure the highest moral and ethical behavior amongst the staff. • Advise the Recreation Supervisor on issues pertaining to the operation. • Ensure the safety of all staff and facility users. • Train staff in and model pleasant, proactive and approachable customer service. • Support the efforts of staff in maintaining a clean and sanitary facility. • Provide seasonal employees with feedback in writing on their performance. Make recommendations regarding the rehire of seasonal employees. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: • Former or current Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard with work experience. • Demonstrated leadership ability, including successful conflict management and complaint resolution. • Supervisory, lead worker or other similarly responsible leadership experience. • Functional knowledge of basic federal and state laws and best practices for managing and supervising employees. • Great interpersonal and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in cash handling and cash register operations. • Experience supervising aquatic facility staff. • Experience in training and evaluating seasonal staff. • American Red Cross Authorized Lifeguard Training Instructor. • Lifeguard Training Certification, Lifeguard Training Instructor Certification and Certified Pool Operator. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION POSTING FOR BOTH OUTDOOR POOLS - FAMILY AQUATIC CENTER AND REDWOOD: Pool Season: June 8 - August 25, 2023. Potential for additional work through early September. Pre and Post meetings will be required as well. Pool is open 7 days a week. Day, evening and weekend work will be required. Aquatic Center Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. Redwood: 9:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Accepting applications until positions are filled. Rate of pay depending on qualifications.
