As a Seasonal Recreation Program Aid, you will support the Recreation Program Lead and assist in implementing recreational programs and activities organized by the City of Borger during the summer season. Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor or designated supervisor, you will help with program setup, supervise participants, maintain equipment, and perform other assigned tasks. • Program Setup:Assist with setting up program spaces, equipment, and materials for recreational activities and events, ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and in good working condition.
• Participant Assistance:Provide assistance and support to program participants, including helping with check-in, distributing materials or equipment, and offering guidance or instructions as needed.
• Equipment Maintenance:Help maintain cleanliness and orderliness of program equipment and facilities, including storing equipment properly, cleaning up after activities, and reporting any maintenance issues or concerns to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Participant Supervision:Assist in supervising program participants during activities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and compliance with program rules and guidelines, and providing assistance or intervention as necessary.
• Program Support:Assist the Recreation Program Lead and other staff in delivering recreational programs and activities, performing tasks such as leading games or activities, facilitating group discussions, and providing general assistance as needed.
• Customer Service:Provide friendly and courteous customer service to program participants, parents, guardians, and community members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and helpful manner.
• Team Collaboration:Collaborate with program staff, volunteers, and other city employees to ensure the successful implementation of recreational programs and events, working together to achieve program goals and objectives.
• Safety Awareness:Maintain awareness of safety protocols and emergency procedures, following established guidelines and protocols to ensure the safety and security of program participants and staff at all times.
• Documentation:Assist in maintaining accurate records of program attendance, activities, and incidents, completing required logs, reports, and documentation as directed by the Recreation Supervisor or designated supervisor.
• Professional Development:Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to recreational programming, participant supervision, customer service, and safety procedures.
• Previous experience working with children, youth, or community-based programs desirable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with participants, parents, staff, and volunteers in a positive and supportive manner.
• Ability to follow directions, work well as part of a team, and perform tasks independently with minimal supervision.
• Enthusiasm for recreational activities and a willingness to engage actively with program participants and staff in various activities and events.
• Basic knowledge of safety procedures and emergency protocols applicable to recreational programs and facilities.
• Physical stamina and agility to perform tasks such as setting up equipment, supervising participants, and assisting with program activities as needed.
