You’ll work closely with product managers, analysts, machine learning engineers, and fellow data experts to build the systems that keep our marketplace fast, reliable, and smart.You’ll have the chance to:Own core data ingestion and transformation pipelines across streaming and batch systemsWork on both greenfield projects and robust production systemsDive into technologies like Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Delta Lake, Teradata, BigQuery, and HiveSolve real business problems for marketing, finance, supply chain, and moreBe part of a flexible, supportive, and growth-oriented engineering culture What You’ll DoDesign, develop, and maintain high-performance, high-volume ETL pipelines (batch and streaming)Build and optimize cloud-based data platforms on AWS and GCPPartner with cross-functional teams to define requirements and implement scalable solutionsMentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team cultureOwn data quality, lineage, monitoring, and production support for critical pipelinesParticipate in on-call rotations and agile delivery cycles What We’re Looking ForMust-Haves:BS/MS in Computer Science or related field5+ years in data engineering, distributed systems, or backend developmentStrong coding skills in Python, Java, or ScalaDeep SQL knowledge and experience with both relational and NoSQL databasesProven expertise in big data frameworks like Spark, Hive, Kafka, and AirflowExperience building and supporting production-grade data platformsStrong communication skills and ability to thrive in a globally distributed teamExperience with cloud data technologies (AWS or GCP, especially for large-scale processing)Ownership mindset and ability to operate independently with minimal supervisionNice-to-Haves:Familiarity with HBase, Redis, CDC (Change Data Capture) toolsExperience with Google Data Streams, Dataproc, Delta Lake, or Apache HudiBackground in monitoring tools like Elasticsearch and WavefrontExperience in a dynamic, multi-time-zone engineering environmentHow You’ll GrowIn your first 30 days, you’ll:Learn our systems and tech stackGet support from a mentor and start contributing to small tasksIn your first 90 days, you’ll:Own and deliver key initiativesJoin our on-call rotation and collaborate across teamsBe considered for specific data streams aligned with your strengths (e.g., marketing, finance, real-time) ️ From there, your path can grow into stream leadership, technical mentorship, or even engineering management, depending on your goals.Grouponis an AI-First CompanyWe’re committed to building smarter, faster, and more innovative ways of working—and AI plays a key role in how we get there.
