The assignment desk editor will find, follow, and cover the news of the day, and gather stories and elements for dissemination to NBC News group and News Channel partners and clients, including foreign clients. This position is overnight hours and could include backfilling other assignment desk shifts.ResponsibilitiesWork with all NBC entities and News Channel clients to gather the day’s newsFulfil requests for all NBC Network platformsUse all available editorial, social media, and desktop tools to gather, view, and share storiesRespond quickly to breaking newsWork closely with feed producer regarding story details and restrictionsCommunicate story developments with network, NBC News Channel clients and internally within NBC News ChannelRepresent NBC News Channel on network conference callsBook transmission facilities, live and tape feedsUtilize various file sharing platforms to gather videoFind compelling user generated storiesClear, with the proper language, any user generated content for the feedFollow and communicate Rights and Clearances restrictionsQualifications2+ years of affiliate and or network experienceBachelor’s degree - preferably in journalism or communicationsMust be able to work weekends, nights, and holidaysAbility to work flexible hours during major breaking newsStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong editorial judgment and customer service skillsDesired CharacteristicsAbility to work calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentAbility to multitask and prioritize assignmentsStrong work ethic and organizational skillsAssignment Desk experience preferredAdditional RequirementsFully Remote: This position has been designated as fully remote, meaning that the position is expected to contribute from a non-NBCUniversal worksite, most commonly an employee’s residence.This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
