SAP S/4HANA Finance & Project Systems Functional Lead

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management (FM), and Project Systems (PS) Functional Lead to support both current SAP ECC environments and the implementation of new S/4HANA-based financial systems as part of the SMART project. This role requires deep SAP functional expertise, strong business process knowledge, and the ability to partner with IT, business, and system integrator teams. This is a primarily remote role, with onsite presence required during key phases of the project. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP Finance (FI/CO), Funds Management, and Project Systems processes across ECC and S/4HANA. • Support current ECC systems and assist with the implementation of new S/4HANA enterprise systems, including integrations with related SAP modules and external systems. • Act as the IT point of contact for finance-related activities, coordinating with system integrators, project teams, and business stakeholders. • Learn and document current (As-Is) processes and help map them to future (To-Be) S/4HANA processes. • Configure, test, and document enhancements, customizations, and new functionalities for FI/FM/PS modules. • Support data profiling, cleansing, reconciliation, and validation of master and transactional data. • Perform and support functional testing, including integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT). • Provide support during cutover and post go-live hypercare for S/4HANA implementations. • Develop training documentation and assist in user training sessions. • Support reporting requirements, background job processing, payment processing, and financial integrations. • Ensure adherence to system and process change management best practices. • Troubleshoot and resolve SAP-related issues in both ECC and S/4HANA environments. Minimum Qualifications • 10+ years of experience configuring and supporting SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management, and Project Systems. • 2+ full lifecycle S/4HANA implementation projects involving FI/FM/PS. • Extensive hands-on experience with SAP FI/CO modules and strong understanding of end-to-end financial business processes. • Deep functional experience with SAP Project Systems (PS) in ECC and S/4HANA. • Strong knowledge of month-end and year-end closing processes. • Experience facilitating process discovery and design workshops. • Ability to develop and review functional/technical design documents and process/training materials. • Strong understanding of end-to-end business, data, and transaction flows. • Familiarity with financial regulations and public-sector financial procedures. Desired Skills • Experience integrating ECC and S/4HANA with external systems and banks. • Knowledge of real-time and batch integrations; experience with ACH, check payments, and digital payments. • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics integrations. • Experience using ServiceNow and Azure DevOps (ADO). • Background in ECC S/4HANA migration projects, including brownfield migrations and transitions to Fiori. • Experience creating, documenting, and executing test scenarios, scripts, and results. Education & Certifications • Bachelor s degree in Business Management, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). • Preferred: Certifications in SAP S/4HANA Finance, Funds Management, or Project Systems.
