Sales Tax Exemption Specialist for eBay Reseller Business (US States Compliance)
Job Overview:
We are a U.S.-based eBay reseller actively selling across multiple states. Our business has already secured sales tax exemptions through the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) program in over 20+ states. However, for states not covered under SST or those requiring additional steps, we are still being charged sales tax on certain purchases.
We are now seeking a Sales Tax Exemption Consultant to help us obtain full tax exemption status in the remaining U.S. states, enabling us to scale more profitably and stay compliant.
Your Role:
- Review our current SST-approved tax exemption status.
- Identify states where we are still paying tax and why.
- Apply for or guide us through the tax exemption certificate process for non-SST states.
- Help file any required state-specific documentation.
- Advise on compliance, renewal procedures, or multi-jurisdictional sales tax rules.
- Ensure exemption status is properly recognized by major suppliers and marketplaces.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience with U.S. sales tax compliance and exemptions.
- In-depth knowledge of Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) and non-SST state requirements.
- Experience with eCommerce businesses or resellers (eBay, Amazon, Walmart, etc.).
- Ability to file/manage resale/exemption certificates in all 50 states.
- Understanding of nexus laws and tax document validation.
- Strong communication skills with documentation ability.
Bonus (Not Required but Preferred):
- Familiarity with tax automation platforms (TaxJar, Avalara, Sovos).
- CPA or legal tax certification.
- Experience submitting tax forms to Walmart, Amazon, or B2B suppliers.
