About Summit Outfitters
Summit Outfitters is an upcoming outdoor lifestyle boutique curated for modern explorers. Our store features a thoughtful blend of trusted outdoor brands, sustainably-made apparel, and ethically sourced gear. We’re looking for someone with a passion for the outdoors and a great eye for quality and style to help shape our product lineup.
Role Overview
As our Retail Buyer, you'll be the bridge between Summit Outfitters and the brands we carry. You’ll scout and onboard brands, handle wholesale orders, and manage product intake so that our shelves and our point-of-sale system are always in sync.
Key Responsibilities
• Research and source outdoor apparel and gear brands aligned with our store values
• Build relationships with brand reps and inquire about wholesale terms
• Place seasonal orders based on trends, sales data, and store needs
• Enter products into the POS system (titles, descriptions, pricing, SKUs, photos) prior to product arrival
• Maintain an organized order calendar with expected ship dates
• Collaborate with the founder and store staff to ensure assortment is well-rounded, trend-conscious, and seasonally appropriate
• Stay current with outdoor lifestyle trends and customer preferences
Qualifications
• Active participant in the outdoor community (climbing, hiking, camping, etc.)
• Familiarity with brands sold at stores like REI, Backcountry, or Huckberry
• Prior experience in retail buying or brand outreach is a plus
• Comfortable managing spreadsheets, product catalogs, and backend POS systems
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Passionate about slow fashion, sustainability, and thoughtful curation
