About the Company

Cantium is seeking a seasoned and entrepreneurial Development Geoscientist with a proven record of prospect generation, field development, and reservoir characterization in the Gulf of America. This role will directly contribute to Cantium’s strategy of value creation through development optimization and reserve growth across Cantium’s Shelf assets. The ideal candidate is both technically excellent and commercially aware, capable of working independently and collaboratively to identify, de-risk, and mature drilling opportunities.


Position Summary

The Reservoir Engineer will directly contribute to Cantium’s strategy of value creation through development optimization and reserve growth across Cantium’s Shelf assets. The ideal candidate is both technically excellent and commercially aware, capable of working independently and collaboratively to identify, de-risk, and mature drilling, workover, and through tubing opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Generate, evaluate, and present exploration and development prospects using integrated reservoir, petrophysical, and geological data.
  • Understand and interpret pressure behavior and fluid movement over time to understand current condition of reservoirs.
  • Impact of oil and gas phase behavior on hydrocarbon type expectations and the impact on reserves and production performance.
  • Participate in full-cycle development from reserve estimates, including uncertainty ranges, to post-drill analysis and follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with geoscientists, operations, and petrophysicists to mature rig and non-rig activity, justify data acquisition programs, AFE justifications, and reserve evaluations.
  • Lead or contribute to technical presentations.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical or Petroleum preferred).
  • 6+ years in upstream oil & gas, with demonstrated success in Gulf of America Conventional Resources.
  • Proven record of value-added development in mature fields.
  • Demonstrated success identifying bypassed pay, behind-pipe opportunities, and drilling opportunities in mature fields.
  • Strong subsurface integration skills: understanding of drilling and completion operations, subsurface mapping, well histories including production and topsides activities, well behavior and causes of production impairment, micro and macroscopic displacement phenomenon, pressure behavior, and how these contribute to well performance and reserve expectations.


Physical Demands

This position primarily operates in an office environment and requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a computer, and communicating via phone and email. Occasional travel may be required to field locations, which can involve walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, and exposure to typical oil and gas field conditions. The position may also require attending meetings, giving presentations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams both in-person and virtually.
