About the position
Responsibilities
ā¢ Perform in vivo immunization experiments in mouse models and collect serum and tissue samples for immunological analysis.
ā¢ Perform basic cellular and molecular biology/biochemical techniques including mammalian cell culture, qPCR, protein expression and purification, and immunological techniques such as ELISA and flow cytometry.
ā¢ Conduct and coordinate experimental work for ongoing projects, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting results, as well as potentially contributing to manuscript preparation.
ā¢ Prepare reagents and maintain lab equipment and supplies to ensure laboratory stocks are sufficient.
ā¢ Work closely with the principal investigator and other laboratory staff in a highly collaborative environment.
ā¢ Train and oversee undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Requirements
ā¢ B.A. or B.S. degree in immunology, biochemistry, cellular molecular biology, or related biomedical field.
ā¢ 1-3 years of experience in a related field; Master's Degree preferred.
ā¢ Demonstrated experience with general basic molecular and cellular biology techniques and immunological techniques such as mammalian tissue culture, protein production/purification, western blotting, isolation of DNA, RNA, qPCR, and ELISA.
ā¢ Experience working independently with murine models for in vivo studies, including immunization, blood collection, and viral infection models.
ā¢ Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
ā¢ Prior experience in virology related techniques.
ā¢ Experience performing primary cell isolation from animal tissue.
ā¢ Strong interest in research and learning these techniques under guidance by the PI and lab personnel.
