Research Compliance Educator (REMOTE)

Penn State’s Office for Research Protections (ORP) seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Research Compliance Educator. The ORP, part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, plays a pivotal role in supporting Penn State’s vibrant research community, boasting an annual research expenditure of $1.23 billion and ranking among the top 30 public research... universities in the nation. The ORP oversees the research compliance and administrative processes for animal research, biosafety, and isotopes.

The Research Compliance Educator will report to the Director of Education and Outreach.

Responsibilities: As part of the Education and Outreach team, the Research Compliance Educator will have the following responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the University-wide IACUC, IBC, and UIC education programs. The Educator is responsible for synchronous and asynchronous training opportunities for existing and in-development related processes and systems for the animal and research safety compliance programs, from introductory training to in-depth researcher training.
• Assess future training needs and requirements for both program processes and systems; assist in the development of system documentation, communication, and support materials; and serve as a conduit among end users, the ORP programs, and the Centralized Application Tracking System (CATS) team.
• Assist with the development of communications and outreach for the ORP and programs, including the newsletter and website.
• Assist the Director with work on additional special projects, including technology-based training and management.
• Act as University administrator of CITI.
• Contribute to additional educational offerings for the research community, including backing up other team educators on subjects including human participants, research security, and conflict of interest disclosures.
• Work closely with the ORP compliance programs, the Office of Research Information Systems, and other stakeholders.

Work Arrangement: The position can be performed remotely within the US and may require occasional on-site training delivery at Penn State’s commonwealth locations, particularly University Park, and may hire, train, supervise, and/or evaluate assigned staff.

Education and Experience: This position will be filled at the Advanced Professional level and at the minimum, requires a Bachelor’s Degree or higher and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other qualifications include the following:
• Demonstrated effectiveness in the management and coordination of complex programs.
• Proven experience in instructional design and training, showcasing successful development and delivery of learning materials and sessions.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to summarize and convey technical information to a diverse audience is critical.
• Exceptional professionalism with a strong customer-service orientation is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office is expected.
• Experience with research, responsible conduct of research, or research administration is desired.
• Experience with instructional development software and multimedia tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia) including HTML for web-based content creation is desired.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is $56,200.00 – $81,500.00
