Department: CPH | EHS McGill Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant I or II with experience in one or more of these approaches. The McGill laboratory at UAMS conducts innovative research into drug-induced liver injury to address these problems. We use multiple model systems, including animal models, human samples, cell culture models, and various in vitro systems. We also use a variety of analytical techniques, including PCR, western blotting, and other immunoassays (e.g., ELISA), HPLC with electrochemical detection, spectrophotometry, and microscopy. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting experiments using these models and techniques with guidance from the principal investigator, collecting data, managing small animal colonies, tracking chemical inventory, and communicating with the principal investigator. They will be supervised/mentored by Dr. Mitch McGill, Associate Professor within the College of Public Health and faculty member in the College of Medicine. Qualifications: Level I: Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of research experience. Level II: Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of research experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently most of the time, with overall guidance from the principal investigator Prior experience with one or more of the following: PCR, western blotting, mouse handling, cell culture, HPLC, or spectrophotometry Additional Information: Responsibilities: Collaborate and communicate regularly with other lab members and the principal investigator. Analyze samples by western blotting, qPCR, ELISA, spectrophotometry, and HPLC. Conduct animal and cell culture experiments to collect samples. Document work in laboratory notebook (and elsewhere as needed). Manage small colonies of mice. Track chemical and supply inventory. Perform other duties as assigned.
