Manage the operational safety & security processes for Marriott businesses within US Region East. Support the mission of the Global Safety & Security Department in minimizing controllable losses by using specialized technical knowledge and advanced problem-solving techniques. Provide day-to-day leadership to all aspects of safety and security ensuring that both the RVPs and Head of Security Operations for GS&S US/CAN remain regularly apprised and informed of all key issues.

LOCATION

• This position would be a Hybrid role operating out of the DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area and be expected to travel 25% of the time.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required
• 10+ years’ security management experience with increasing management responsibility including security and crisis management
• 10+ years’ experience in a management role; demonstrated success leading and developing others in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred
• Strong functional leadership and security knowledge; able to leverage this strength to influence business team strategies and decisions.
• Ability to provide counsel to senior leadership and working in a stressful, fluid changing real time environment while maintaining tact, diplomacy and strength of character.
• Strong interpersonal skills; must be a successful “networker” and able to maintain effective relationships, both internally and externally.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
• Serve as a Regional Sr. Director for and directly manage the safety & security effort for a specified geographical area of the Americas.
• Identify conditions and actions that erode profits or have the potential to do so. Target high-risk properties with Marriott International business leaders and RVPs and initiate an effective plan of action.
• Promote compliance with Marriott International policies and all federal, state and local codes.
• Utilize Safety & Security Communication packages, training programs and approved vendors to effectively promote an environment free from hazards at each property. Ensure that each assigned property is meeting the proper standard of care for the protection of guests.
• Manage program schedules and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective results.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with Regional Sr. Directors, property Security & Safety Leaders, Human Resource staff, Corporate Legal Department, Americas Team Members, and Regional Claims Office to provide guidance and/or consultation, as appropriate, to effectively influence business decisions and ultimately financial outcomes and optimize overall work effectiveness.
• Partner with Sales & Marketing to provide assurance of Marriott’s safety and security protocol for prospective conferences and other special events being held at Marriott properties.
• Using knowledge of Marriott’s business and scanning the competitive environment, anticipate and identify opportunities and challenges to respond with effective strategies and actions that are aligned with overarching services delivered by GS&S.
• Develop policies and training programs in safety/security to ensure the MxM Properties have an effective loss control program, crisis management plan and security management plan.

The salary range for this position is $147,000 to $212,200 annually.
