VACANCIES: Various opportunities exist for substitute assignments (temporary/as needed basis). All positions are part-time and range from 3 - 3.5 hours per day for the after school programs, generally, between the hours of 2 - 6 p.m. Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate. Assignments may be in any part of the district boundaries (Glendale, La Crescenta or Montrose).

Based on the immediate and future needs of the district, the same recruitment will also be used to fill permanent positions as opportunities become available.

Performs a wide variety of non-teaching, routine tasks in accordance with instructions from the teacher.
Provides supervision to children under the direction of a teacher.
Assists teacher in preparing activities for students and cleaning up after the completion of the activities.
Assists in class supervision on field trips.
Assists in serving nutritional meals and designated snacks.
Assists in napping routine, making beds, and changing children's bed linens.
Performs related work as required.Knowledge of:
Student needs and behavioral characteristics.
Ability to:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Learn and work within the framework and requirements of the program to which assigned.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum Requirements:

Desirable:

Note regarding the salary: The listed salary rate represents the first and last steps of the salary range. Substitute employees are paid a fixed hourly rate at the first step only.
For permanent positions, the examination process may include a multiple-choice written test and will include a qualifications appraisal interview. Candidates will be notified of the date(s), the actual examination part(s), and relative weight(s) at the appropriate time.

Prior to employment, a candidate must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis. Also required after an offer of employment are a pre-employment physical exam (district-paid) and fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice and the FBI.
