Work collaboratively with families, speech-language pathologists, and other educational specialists to enhance student learning and overall development.
Continuously monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and making necessary adjustments to instructional approaches.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay informed about the latest practices in deaf education and virtual teaching methodologies.
Required Skills
Proficiency in utilizing virtual teaching tools and platforms for effective instruction.
Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Ability to foster an engaging and inclusive virtual classroom environment.
Excellent organizational skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Possession of an Illinois State Teaching Certification in Deaf Education or an equivalent credential.
Demonstrated experience teaching deaf or hard-of-hearing students, ideally within a virtual educational setting.
