Job Role: Senior SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA) Washington, DC - Remote with occasional on-site presence Duration: 12 months Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator to support enterprise-wide database operations in a complex, multi-platform environment. The role involves advanced administration, maintenance, and optimization of SQL Server and SQL Cluster systems to ensure high availability, integrity, and performance across business applications. Key Responsibilities: Administer and maintain SQL Server databases in clustered and standalone environments. Support database design, schema creation, and development of new databases with business and application teams. Diagnose and resolve performance, replication, and connectivity issues through proactive monitoring and tuning. Manage backups, restores, replication, and patching while ensuring system integrity and version control. Handle change requests and incident tickets using IT service management (ITSM) processes. Provide support for related databases including MS Access, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Collaborate with application developers to optimize data access, queries, and performance. Manage and respond to Requests for Changes (RFCs) and incident tickets using FootPrints and ITIL-based processes. Participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance for updates, patching, and reboots. Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, incidents, and resolutions. Perform duties using secure remote access methods while remaining available through standard communication tools during core business hours. Required Qualifications: 8+ years of professional experience administering SQL Server databases (2016 or later). Strong knowledge of SQL Clustering, high availability/disaster recovery, and performance tuning. Proficiency in T-SQL scripting, automation, and troubleshooting. Working familiarity with MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MS Access. Solid understanding of database security, access control, and patch management. Effective communicator capable of coordinating with both technical and management teams. Apply tot his job
