[Remote] Senior Bookkeeper & Office Administrator - QBO + Fishbowl
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. HOWL Campfires is a scaling DTC e-commerce brand that creates portable propane fire pits. The role involves managing bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online and overseeing office administration tasks to streamline workflows and maintain accurate financial records.
Responsibilities
⢠Own full-cycle bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online (accrual): reconciliations, journal entries, clean coding, and accounting hygiene
⢠Run monthly close and deliver reporting by the 15th: P&L by channel (DTC vs dealer), Cash forecast, COGS by SKU
⢠Own A/P + vendor management: bill intake, coding, approvals, payment runs, and vendor relationships
⢠Own A/R + dealer invoicing: invoices, terms tracking, and collections follow-up as needed
⢠Partner with production/supply chain to maintain inventory + COGS accuracy using Fishbowl
⢠Monthly inventory reconciliation
⢠Support evolving BOM/assemblies and changing COGS as parts/suppliers change
⢠Own multi-state sales tax compliance (currently CA, CO, NV, NM, UT, WA, OR; expanding): Select + implement a provider/tool (TaxJar/Avalara or similar)
⢠Ensure filings + payments are on time
⢠Own vendor selection + project management for a consultant-led Fishbowl ā QBO integration
⢠Coordinate with outsourced partners: CPA (tax/financials), payroll + HR provider, and CFO as they come onboard
⢠Manage mail handling + deposits
⢠Own bills routing (make sure vendor invoices/statements reliably hit the right workflow/inbox)
⢠Provide HR admin support (coordination with outsourced payroll/HR service; paperwork routing, basic onboarding/offboarding admin)
Skills
⢠Deep experience in QuickBooks Online (accrual)
⢠Senior-level bookkeeping in a product business, ideally DTC e-commerce
⢠Comfort with inventory + COGS (including monthly reconciliation)
⢠Experience with multi-state sales tax workflows
⢠Strong process mindset: you reduce manual entry and build repeatable systems
⢠Fishbowl experience (or similar inventory/manufacturing system)
⢠BOM/assemblies manufacturing experience
⢠Experience in a rapidly scaling consumer brand
