[Remote] Senior BI Developer & Designer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Simatree is seeking a Senior BI Developer & Designer to assist in delivery of enterprise analytics and reporting solutions for healthcare and insurance clients. This role owns the end-to-end BI lifecycle, ensuring reporting solutions are accurate, scalable, and aligned to regulated operational use cases.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Design, develop, and optimize interactive dashboards and reporting solutions using an enterprise BI platform (Power BI, Tableau, Yellowfin, or similar)
ā¢ Develop and tune complex SQL queries against Snowflake and other enterprise data platforms
ā¢ Partner with business and client stakeholders to translate operational and reporting requirements into governed, scalable BI solutions
ā¢ Design and document semantic layers, reusable metrics, and standardized KPI definitions
ā¢ Apply advanced UI/UX principles to create clean, executive-ready dashboards that drive confident decision-making
ā¢ Establish and uphold BI governance standards, including naming conventions, version control, release management, and documentation practices
ā¢ Ensure data accuracy through validation, reconciliation, and close collaboration with data engineering teams
ā¢ Serve as a senior point of contact for analytics-related stakeholder questions and escalations
Skills
ā¢ 5+ years of hands-on BI development experience in enterprise environments
ā¢ Advanced SQL expertise, including query tuning and performance optimization
ā¢ Deep proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, Yellowfin, or comparable enterprise BI tools
ā¢ Experience designing governed semantic layers and reusable reporting frameworks
ā¢ Strong experience working in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated data environments
ā¢ Ability to lead stakeholder conversations and influence reporting standards
ā¢ Experience operating in client-facing or consulting environments
ā¢ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive presentation capability
ā¢ Experience working directly with Snowflake data environments
ā¢ Experience working directly with Yellowfin BI
ā¢ Familiarity with dbt or modern transformation frameworks
ā¢ Understanding of healthcare data domains (claims, eligibility, provider networks, benefits data)
ā¢ Experience implementing row-level security or governed reporting patterns
ā¢ Experience using Git or similar tools for BI asset version control
