[Remote] Project Engineer - Entry Level Rotation Program (Opportunities Available Nationally)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Colas USA is a leader in transportation infrastructure construction and maintenance, offering a rotational program for new graduates. Participants will gain experience in Project Management, Estimating, and Manufacturing across various locations in the United States, culminating in a fixed position that aligns with their interests.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Assists Project Engineers and Project Managers as they manage various aspects of a construction project
ā¢ Duties could include tracking quantities, contacting vendors and subcontractors, along with submittals
ā¢ Assist with project safety, including leading safety discussions and helping provide PPE to field employees
ā¢ Learn and utilize programs such as HeavyJob
ā¢ Work closely with managers and superintendents in one or more of our manufacturing areas
ā¢ Could be involved with asphalt, concrete, aggregate, emulsions, or other production processes
ā¢ Learn applicable software programs and assist with running the business
ā¢ Become involved in areas such as mine planning, plant maintenance, and plant projects
ā¢ Contribute to our efforts to have clean and organized plants and shops for safety and efficiency purposes
ā¢ Learn and contribute to efforts to reduce emissions and BTU use as we achieve our corporate reduction efforts
ā¢ Learn and become proficient in programs such as HeavyBid to assist estimators
ā¢ Perform bid takeoffs and assist with calculations
ā¢ Visit jobsites with estimators in order to become better prepared for bid process
ā¢ Coordinate with project managers and superintendents to ensure bidding is consistent with construction realities
ā¢ Contact potential vendors and subcontractors in order to obtain their bids to include in the overall estimate
Skills
ā¢ Recent college graduate or upcoming graduate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
ā¢ High degree of drive and a willingness to learn
ā¢ Geographic mobility during the program with the ability to select a location after the program
ā¢ Willingness to learn from subject matter experts as skills and knowledge are developed
ā¢ Outstanding communication skills
ā¢ Should have a team mindset to help their work groups succeed as they learn
ā¢ Must be safety oriented
ā¢ Must be willing to relocate to a different location every 8 months as part of the program (3 moves in total)
ā¢ Previous experience in the construction or manufacturing industry is a significant advantage
ā¢ Should have a spirit of adventure and have a positive attitude
