Job Overview

We are actively seeking a highly qualified and driven Principal Network Engineer to become an integral part of our team in Arlington, VA. This position supports the Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next Gen contract at the Pentagon, necessitating a full-time onsite presence due to the nature of the work involved.

Key Responsibilities
Ā• Deliver expert knowledge in network architecture and engineering for network implementations, cloud integrations, and project designs.
Ā• Administer and support intelligent DNS routing across multiple enterprise locations and data centers, including planning and executing required upgrades with new equipment installations.
Ā• Implement approved authentication and certificate management controls to uphold secure network operations.
Ā• Utilize caching for enterprise infrastructure, covering hardware, software, and configuration elements.
Ā• Manage deployment options and configure network settings, including self IPs, port lockdowns, and routing protocols.
Ā• Establish remote logging to Splunk for effective monitoring purposes.
Ā• Adhere to change management processes to sustain network integrity.
Ā• Troubleshoot, configure, and monitor load balancer network architecture, focusing on performance and traffic flow alongside application monitoring and CPU utilization.
Ā• Analyze network alarms to pinpoint issues and collaborate with on-site personnel for resolutions.
Ā• Employ enterprise service management tools to initiate, track, and respond to service requests efficiently.
Ā• Generate reports and assess performance metrics for optimal network functionality.
Ā• Develop and document procedures to enhance troubleshooting processes for swift issue resolution.
Ā• Collaborate with OEM vendors to tackle operational challenges and mitigate known bugs and security alerts.
Ā• Work alongside information security teams to evaluate vulnerabilities and compliance with security standards.
Ā• Analyze modern technologies and provide recommendations for optimizing network efficiency.
Ā• Clearly communicate technical and customer-related matters to management in a timely and concise manner.
Ā• Adjust network architecture in response to evolving customer needs and advancements in technology.

Required Skills
Ā• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
Ā• Proficiency in network performance monitoring, resource utilization, and capacity planning.
Ā• Knowledge of contemporary network design principles and protocols.
Ā• Familiarity with network virtualization technologies and multi-tenant architectures.
Ā• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl or Python, particularly for network threshold event coding.
Ā• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

Qualifications
Ā• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Ā• Current IAT Level II certification.
Ā• At least one relevant network certification (Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), or Aruba).
Ā• Minimum of 8 years' experience in operating, troubleshooting, and installing network routers and switches.
Ā• At least 5 years' experience designing and architecting routed and switched networks for large-scale enterprise solutions.
Ā• 2+ years serving as a senior or lead engineer in planning and building software-defined networks.
Ā• Experience within a DoD environment.
Ā• Hands-on expertise in configuring and installing a variety of network devices and services.
Ā• Comprehensive understanding of current and emerging network design principles and protocols.
