[Remote] Principal Consultant, Cloud & Platform Engineering (AWS Focus)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Turnberry Solutions is seeking a Principal Consultant who will act as a senior technical leader to design and deliver modern cloud solutions with a focus on AWS. This role involves client advisory, pre-sales support, and oversight of solution architecture, ensuring that solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with best practices.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Serve as a senior technical advisor to client stakeholders, including engineering leaders, architects, and executives
ā¢ Lead discussions around cloud strategy, platform design, and modernization approaches
ā¢ Help clients define realistic roadmaps that balance business goals, security, cost, and operational maturity
ā¢ Translate business problems into clear technical solutions that teams can execute
ā¢ Partner with the sales team during pre-sales activities to support opportunity development
ā¢ Participate in client discovery calls, technical deep dives, and solutioning sessions
ā¢ Help define scope, architecture approach, assumptions, and risks during proposal development
ā¢ Review and contribute to statements of work, ensuring technical accuracy and feasibility
ā¢ Act as a trusted technical voice in early client conversations to build credibility and trust
ā¢ Design and review enterprise-grade AWS architectures, including networking, identity, security, compute, and data services
ā¢ Provide architectural guidance for clients operating in multi-cloud or hybrid environments
ā¢ Set technical direction and guardrails for delivery teams across engagements
ā¢ Ensure solutions align with AWS best practices, security standards, and client constraints
ā¢ Guide clients in adopting infrastructure as code, deployment automation, and modern CI/CD practices
ā¢ Advise on observability, reliability, and operational readiness, including logging, monitoring, and incident response
ā¢ Help organization move from project-based delivery toward sustainable platform and product models
ā¢ Mentor architects and senior engineers across projects
ā¢ Serve as an escalation point for complex technical decisions
ā¢ Contribute to internal reference architectures, standards, and accelerators
ā¢ Support internal capability growth and consistency across cloud engagements
Skills
ā¢ 10 or more years of experience in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise systems
ā¢ Strong background delivering consulting or professional services engagements
ā¢ Experience working directly with client leaders and technical decision-makers
ā¢ Comfortable balancing hands-on technical depth with strategic advisory responsibilities
ā¢ AWS expertise
ā¢ Deep experience designing and operating solutions on AWS in production environments
ā¢ Strong understanding of services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, Route 53, RDS, DynamoDB, and S3
ā¢ Experience designing for security, high availability, disaster recovery, and cost optimization
ā¢ Multi-Cloud experience
ā¢ Working knowledge of Azure and or GCP
ā¢ Ability to compare cloud services, patterns, and tradeoffs across providers
ā¢ Experience supporting hybrid or multi-cloud architectures, even if AWS is the primary platform
ā¢ Strong written and verbal communication skills
ā¢ Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
ā¢ Comfortable presenting to clients and facilitating technical discussions
ā¢ Pragmatic mindset that balances ideal architecture with real-world constraints
ā¢ Collaborative, calm under pressure, and trusted by both clients and internal teams
ā¢ AWS certifications preferred, especially Solutions Architect Professional
