Teacher Chicago Company: GPAC Job description : STEM/STEAM Teacher Under the supervision of the school principal and assistant principal, the STEM/STEAM teacher is responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes and performs related duties as required. Essential Functions: Responsible for instructional planning, including, but not limited to, providing written lesson plans and preparation aligned with the objectives of the instructional program, establishing positive learning expectation standards for all pupils, and evaluating pupils' progress and maintaining current and accurate records of pupils' achievements; Implementation of instructional methods that apply contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology, drawing from the range of instructional materials available in the school. Also participates in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques, and providing bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils' current work; exhibits and applies knowledge of the curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level. Participation in programs to improve student attendance; establishes and maintains reasonable rules of conduct within the classroom and on school grounds Major Responsibilities and Duties: The duties and responsibilities of the STEAM teacher involve instruction directly related to STEAM and computer science: Demonstrate the ability to model, deliver, and craft-rich student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Demonstrate the ability to create and implement strategies for weaving STEAM experiences into multi-disciplinary curricula. Work in partnership with teachers and staff, modeling consistent effective teaching with technology, engagement, lesson plan design, use of technology, STEAM and online tools. Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study. Ensure that topics taught in the classroom meet state and national standards and requirements. Understand and be able to design, develop, assess, and manage STEAM learning experiences. Identify and apply educational and technology-related research, the psychology of learning, and instructional design principles in guiding use of technology in education. Identify, implement, and investigate software in both classroom and administrative environments. Respect the confidentiality of private information relating to students, colleagues and the operations of the school. Other duties as assigned. Show evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students and a classroom forum for holistic growth. Maintain complete and accurate records. Develop and maintain genuine, positive and consistent communication with parents. Contribute to and benefit from the campus community. Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection and continuous improvement. In addition to subject matter tutoring and teaching, this position includes significant student mentoring.
