In recognition of your expertise, this position offers a salary of a competitive salary.   Job title: Projected: Special Education 1:1 Paraprofessional Company: Battle Creek Public Schools Job description : The special education aide will assist with the educational development of children with special needs by ways of one-on-one instructional and/or non-instructional support. WORK YEAR: School Year Calendar HOURLY WAGE: $15.50/hr HOURS: M-F: 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM with duty free lunch (6.75 hr/day) ACCOUNTABILITY: One-on-one aides in a Special Education setting will be under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher but primarily responsible to the building principal. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education Requirements: Associates Degree; OR 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university; OR High school diploma WITH successful passage of the Paraprofessional ETS Assessment* Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required Parental experience desired but not required Ability to work well with children and adults Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process Calm and patient demeanor SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Will need to provide instructional support of student Serve as a liason for hearing persons and deaf person Assist in supervision of student Provide academic, one to one support for student Provide individual and small group instruction, when applicable Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s) and their program Demonstrate understanding of student's problems, including medical needs; follow medical protocol as directed Will need to provide non-instructional health and behavior support of student as outlined in IEP, including any personal care needs Adhere to district health and safety procedures Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the principal and/or teacher APPLICATION PROCESS: Must complete an online application accompanied by a resume and evidence to show minimum qualification requirements have been met (i.e. copy of transcripts, diplomas, certificates, etc.); paper copies will not be accepted.
