We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Database Engineering to lead our exceptional team in managing database administration and support within a dynamic enterprise environment. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in personnel development, ensuring top-tier service delivery, and overseeing project management, all while nurturing a culture of collaboration and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
• Team Leadership: Guide staffing recommendations, conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and assign work tasks to ensure the team remains motivated and valued.
• Service Delivery: Manage daily operations related to database functions, ensuring exemplary service and support standards.
• Project Management: Oversee project-related initiatives, working closely with both internal teams and external project management professionals to manage project tasks effectively.
• Vendor Relations: Handle vendor partnerships, aiding in selection processes, contract negotiations, and review of statements of work (SOW).
• Process Improvement: Follow established policies while actively seeking to enhance current ITIL processes, including service requests, incident management, and change management.
• Technology Solutions: Assess and recommend technology solutions, engaging in decision-making regarding purchases, development, and implementation.
• Strategic Planning: Contribute to both operational and tactical planning relevant to your functional area.

Required Skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication proficiency.
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to prioritize and manage numerous initiatives.
• Analytical mindset with a robust problem-solving approach and sound judgment.
• Proficient in managing relational database systems, specifically SQL Server and DB2 (z/OS and Distributed).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Quick to identify and resolve team-related challenges.
• Ability to align team and individual objectives with IT’s strategic vision.
• Self-driven with a creative approach to problem-solving.
• Collaborative and open-minded, demonstrating a strong commitment to teamwork and timely task completion.
• Proactive in discovering areas for enhancement and formulating actionable strategies.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
