About the Role As a Remote Payroll Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our payroll processing. You will be responsible for managing compensation packages, calculating wages, and making payments to employees. Your expertise in payroll processing and your attention to detail will be essential in maintaining the trust and confidence of our employees. Key Responsibilities Manage compensation packages using payroll software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payroll Calculate pay according to hours worked, incorporating leaves and overtime, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant legislation Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate, and ensure timely payment to employees Manage and calculate taxes and deductions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies Initiate periodical payments timely, either by preparing and administering checks or making direct deposits through a bank payment system Issue statements and invoices, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes, and other relevant information Calculate unemployment and severance payments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies Deal with complaints and questions regarding payroll from employees and upper management, providing timely and effective solutions Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor, ensuring timely and accurate reporting Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Proven experience as a payroll clerk or payroll manager, with a strong understanding of payroll processing and compensation management Familiarity with general accounting principles, and experience with data collection, entry, and reporting Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and regulations, including compliance with tax laws and employment regulations Computer savvy, with working knowledge of relevant software, such as Pay force, and experience with payroll software Exquisite math and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Excellent communication abilities, with aptitude in problem-solving and conflict resolution High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in accounting/business administration is a plus Preferred Qualifications and Skills In addition to the essential qualifications and skills, we are looking for candidates who have: Experience with remote work, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact with employees and management in a professional and courteous manner Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Workwarp, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
