About the Role We are hiring a Remote College Admissions Consultant (Long-Term Planning Mentor) to work exclusively with one 9th grade student. The student enjoys math and physics but has not yet determined a specific college major. We are looking for a mentor who can provide personalized, long-term guidance to help the student explore interests, clarify academic goals, and build a competitive profile for selective college admissions. Responsibilities • Mentor one student over multiple years, beginning in 9th grade. • Guide the student in exploring interests in math, physics, and related fields, and help clarify future academic and career goals. • Provide academic planning (AP, IB, dual enrollment) to support long-term growth. • Recommend suitable competitions, summer programs, and extracurricular activities that highlight strengths. • Support standardized testing strategy (PSAT, SAT/ACT, AP exams). • Assist with college application strategy, including essays and personal statements, when the time comes. • Communicate progress and development regularly with parents. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or higher (any discipline); familiarity with STEM pathways is a plus. • Prior experience in college admissions consulting, academic advising, or high school counseling. • Ability to guide undecided students from interest exploration → goal setting → achievement. • Strong communication and organizational skills. • Patient, encouraging, and committed to long-term student development.
