[Remote] Optical Design Engineer (Contract – Advanced Systems)

They are seeking an Optical Design Engineer to support the detailed design and optimization of a complex optical system, leading modeling, analysis, and documentation activities while collaborating with other engineers. Responsibilities • Create, refine, and optimize optical designs using industry-standard software (Zemax, Code V, or equivalent). • Perform tolerance, sensitivity, and environmental analyses. • Develop design documentation, specifications, and fabrication packages. • Work with mechanical and systems engineers to define interfaces and integration requirements. • Coordinate with external vendors and fabricators to ensure design-for-manufacture. Skills • 8+ years of professional experience in optical design or related engineering disciplines. • Proficiency with optical design and analysis tools (Zemax / CODE V / FRED / LightTools). • Strong understanding of optical system fundamentals, tolerancing, and alignment. • Demonstrated ability to work across mechanical, electrical, and systems interfaces. • U.S. person status (required for export-controlled work).
