[Remote] Operations Manager (Remote with heavy travel)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Trace is building a data marketplace for physical AI, aiming to transform how work is done in the real world. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring smooth data capture launches, coordinating logistics, training workers, and developing repeatable processes for partner engagements.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Plan each launch: schedules, shift timing, site constraints, access requirements, and shipping
ā¢ Coordinate hardware logistics end to end (devices, cables, SSDs, chargers, labeling, backups)
ā¢ Set up onsite āHQ,ā test gear, charge devices, and prepare the workflow for the day
ā¢ Train groups of workers (often 15ā25 at a time) to use the equipment safely and correctly
ā¢ Troubleshoot issues calmly in real time and coordinate remote support when needed
ā¢ Monitor capture progress, manage data handling, and prevent small issues from becoming big ones
ā¢ Build and refine checklists and SOPs so launches become repeatable and easier each time
ā¢ Document what broke, what worked, and what we should change for the next site
ā¢ Work from home when you're not traveling to capture sites
Skills
ā¢ 2+ years in start ups, marketplace ops, field ops, or similar roles
ā¢ Extremely organized with strong follow-through
ā¢ Calm under pressure and good instincts when things break
ā¢ Strong communicator who can earn trust with site owners and frontline workers
ā¢ Comfortable being on your feet, handling gear, and working in a range of environments, including factories and industrial environments
ā¢ Collaborative, grounded working style and willingness to do unglamorous work well
ā¢ Willing to travel frequently and work in new locations, typically 3ā4 or more trips per month
ā¢ Experience training adults in real-world settings (ops, safety, enablement)
ā¢ Hardware setup experience or familiarity with device management concepts
ā¢ Experience building processes, playbooks, and checklists from scratch
