[Remote] Mortgage Underwriter – Remote (Eastern Time Zone)

The role involves making decisions on mortgage loans, reviewing applications for accuracy, and collaborating with clients to resolve issues while maintaining compliance with regulations. Responsibilities • Make decisions on a full range of mortgage loans, preferably including FHA loans • Review mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness • Collaborate with clients to prepare applications and resolve outstanding issues • Work with compliance officers to ensure Federal, State, and local compliance of all mortgage and loan materials • Approve or deny mortgages promptly and accurately • Perform additional duties as required and assigned • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with the organization’s culture and values Skills • Mortgage industry expertise with strong underwriting experience • Proficiency in DU (Desktop Underwriter) and LP (Loan Prospector) automated underwriting systems • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to perform credit reviews and ensure compliance with investor guidelines • Education: High School Diploma required • Expert Level – Minimum 5 recent years of mortgage underwriting experience (preferably FHA loans) • DE Underwriter certification (preferred) • Some college preferred • Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and automated underwriting systems • Familiarity with mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act • Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations helpful Benefits • Medical, dental & vision • Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital • 401(k) Retirement Plan – Pre-tax and Roth post-tax contributions available • Life Insurance (Voluntary Life & AD&D for the employee and dependents) • Short and long-term disability • Health Spending Account (HSA) • Transportation benefits • Employee Assistance Program • Time Off/Leave (PTO, Vacation or Sick Leave) Company Overview • At TEKsystems, they understand people.
