This project, focused on newcomer communities including Refugees, Temporary Protected Status holders, Humanitarian Parolees, Asylees, Asylum Seekers, and those without status, requires a professional with a strong background in healthcare, data analysis, and project management. As a Grant Project Specialist, you will be instrumental in developing an assessment tool, collecting and analyzing data, and drafting a comprehensive report on the strengths and gaps within Rhode Island's healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities


Develop an assessment tool to evaluate healthcare providers' capacity to deliver treatment to newcomer populations, leveraging research on comparable approaches and expert consultations.
Collaborate with our team to update the state's healthcare inventory, extracting relevant data for the Health Systems Capacity Project.
Distribute the assessment tool to healthcare providers across Rhode Island and manage the collection of returned data.
Identify and implement a digital database platform for efficient data collection and analysis.
Utilize the assessment tool to evaluate healthcare providers through July 2025, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Regularly meet with Department of Human Services (DHS) staff to report progress and strategize next steps.
Analyze collected data to draft a document outlining the strengths and gaps within Rhode Island's healthcare landscape for newcomer populations.


Duties and Tasks

To excel in this role, you'll need to:


Conduct thorough research on assessment approaches for healthcare capacity, consulting with experts in the field.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data analysis and reporting.
Showcase excellent organizational skills, with meticulous attention to detail in data management and analysis.
Effectively communicate with healthcare providers and DHS staff through regular meetings and reports.


Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:


Graduate-level studies in a community healthcare field or a related discipline.
A deep understanding of the healthcare needs of culturally diverse and migrating communities.
Proven research experience and proficiency in utilizing research databases.
At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Excel and 2 years of experience in data management and grant writing.


Preferred qualifications include:


Experience working with newcomer populations or in healthcare capacity assessment.
Knowledge of Rhode Island's healthcare landscape and policies.
Familiarity with digital database platforms for data collection and analysis.
