[Remote] Junior Telecom Engineer

Responsibilities Assist in the design, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, microwave, radio, and IP-based networks Support communication infrastructure for SCADA, protection systems, substations, and control centers Participate in network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of telecom equipment Prepare and update technical documentation, network diagrams, and system records Support field activities including site surveys, inspections, and vendor coordination Collaborate with engineering, IT, and operations teams to ensure network reliability and security Ensure compliance with company standards, safety policies, and industry regulations Assist in emergency response efforts related to communication system outages Skills Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field Basic understanding of telecommunications systems and networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Internship or co-op experience in telecommunications, utilities, or related field Familiarity with fiber optic systems, RF communications, or microwave networks Knowledge of SCADA communication protocols (e.g., DNP3, IEC 61850) Experience with network monitoring tools or basic configuration of routers/switches Exposure to AutoCAD or GIS systems Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA or progress toward certification) Company Overview Leidos is an industry and technology leader serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations.
