The IT Support Specialist I role involves providing first-line technical support to employees, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues while ensuring exceptional customer service.ResponsibilitiesProvide first-line support for hardware, software, and account-related issues through Oportun’s IT Service Desk channels (chat, ticketing, and walk-up support)Troubleshoot and resolve Windows, macOS, and mobile device issues, escalating complex incidents when necessaryAssist in configuring and deploying laptops, peripherals, and mobile devices for new hires and existing employeesUtilize remote support tools (e.g., Kaseya) to assist end-users and perform basic troubleshooting remotelySupport onboarding and offboarding activities including account setup, device provisioning, and access management using Okta and Microsoft 365Maintain accurate IT asset inventory, perform audits, and ensure hardware tracking and complianceLearn and support mobile device management (MDM) tools such as Intune, Tanium, and Jamf for basic system configuration and updatesDocument procedures, update technical knowledge bases, and contribute to process improvement initiativesCollaborate with IT peers to identify recurring issues and recommend solutions to enhance user experienceDeliver outstanding customer service and represent IT with professionalism and empathy in all user interactionsSkills0–2 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical assistance roleFoundational understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems, user account management, and software installationBasic knowledge of network fundamentals (e.g., Wi-Fi connectivity, IP troubleshooting, VPN)Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical information to non-technical usersFamiliarity with Microsoft 365 and Okta (or similar cloud identity platforms)Eagerness to learn new technologies and apply feedback in a dynamic environmentDemonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple support requests effectivelyAssociate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent hands-on experienceExperience in a Service Desk or End User Support environment within a corporate or financial services settingExposure to MDM tools (Intune, Jamf, or Tanium)Knowledge of VPN solutions (ZScaler) and collaboration tools such as Zoom or SlackCompTIA A+ or equivalent entry-level IT certificationStrong desire to pursue growth in IT Support, Systems Administration, or Cloud Technology fieldsCompany OverviewOportun is a digital banking platform that offers personal loans and financial services to people with limited credit history.
