[Remote] International Tax Preparer

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Mom Project is an international tax firm specializing in US taxes for Americans living in Germany, and they are seeking an International Tax Preparer. This role involves preparing US expat tax returns with specialized international tax complexity while collaborating with team members and receiving mentorship to develop expertise in international tax preparation. Responsibilities • Helping our clients sleep better at night knowing their US taxes are in good hands • Reviewing documents and extracting necessary income and expense details • Documenting calculations and preparing accurate and timely US individual tax returns for clients • Responding to client questions about tax returns • Applying international tax rules to client situations and developing expertise in the international tax rules affecting our clients • Some (supervised and supported) research on certain tax situations • Utilizing our project management system to track progress on returns • Learning and applying changes in international US tax laws • Building relationships with clients to enable us to provide a personalized boutique tax preparation experience, even as we grow and take on more clients • Assisting team members in their learning and application of new skills related to international US tax preparation • Providing quality and prompt customer service for client inquiries • Working as a team player while supporting the continued growth of the firm • Additional job duties and/or projects as assigned Skills • Background in science, engineering, technology, or law • Analytical skills • Attention to detail • Ability to work collaboratively with team members • Experience or willingness to learn international tax rules • Ability to utilize project management systems • Excellent customer service skills • Detail-oriented • Ability to follow streamlined procedures • Passion for learning new things • Ability to work in a fully remote environment • Willingness to participate in scheduled team meetings and training • German language skill is a bonus, but not required as long as you're willing to learn how to understand German tax forms Benefits • Fully remote part-time job with flexibility within our core hours of 8am to 4pm EST M-F • Paid holidays and time off to support your work-life balance.
