[Remote] Government Mortgage Underwriter - FHA/VA (West Coast)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. CMG Home Loans is hiring an experienced Government Underwriter. The Underwriter is responsible for executing underwriting based on company policy and standards, ensuring sound decisions to protect the financial and operational interests of the company.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Underwrite government loans including FHA and VA loans
ā¢ Underwrite various other types of loans including Conventional, Bond, USDA
ā¢ Ability to underwrite 45+ initial underwrites per month
ā¢ Communicate regularly with the Loan Officers and/or Processor regarding status of loans via current technology
ā¢ Maintains current working knowledge on current products
ā¢ Leadership with respect to direction of underwriting resources and credit policy execution within team
ā¢ Maintains conversation log in Byte to properly track the forward movement of the file
ā¢ Assists with training needs of other mortgage positions
ā¢ Ad hoc reporting
ā¢ Other duties as assigned
Skills
ā¢ Minimum of five (5) years recent specific government underwriting experience
ā¢ Must possess active LAPP/SAR for VA Loans
ā¢ Must have demonstrated satisfactory knowledge of DU and LP input
ā¢ Ability to properly interpret DU and LP, communicate and document their findings
ā¢ Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email systems
ā¢ Ability to work in a fast paced, fluid environment
ā¢ Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
ā¢ Proven leadership skills
ā¢ High integrity and confidentiality required
ā¢ Highly prefer FHA (DE)
ā¢ Highly prefer underwriters who have experience in several of the following loans: Bond, USDA, Renovation and Construction
