[Remote] Founding SDE – Backend Data Engineering

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Shopint is building a decision intelligence platform that transforms large volumes of public customer feedback into clear insights. They are seeking a Founding Backend & AI Pipeline Engineer to take ownership of backend systems and AI data pipelines, focusing on building reliable and scalable infrastructure for their platform. Responsibilities • Design, build, and own backend infrastructure and AI data pipelines • Develop multi-tenant, production-grade APIs • Build data ingestion, processing, and transformation pipelines for AI workloads • Integrate LLMs, embeddings, and model-serving components into backend systems • Implement enterprise foundations: auth, billing, usage tracking • Ensure security, reliability, and scalability as data and customers grow • Make architectural decisions supporting long-term AI system evolution Skills • Strong Python backend experience (FastAPI) • Proven experience building AI / ML data pipelines in production • Experience with LLM pipelines (prompting, embeddings, vector search, evaluation) • Strong async Python knowledge (async/await, asyncio) • Solid PostgreSQL experience (schema design, migrations, complex queries) • Experience designing secure REST APIs • Security-first mindset (multi-tenant isolation, input validation, SQL injection prevention) • Experience running and scaling real production systems • Vector databases (pgvector, Pinecone, Weaviate, etc.) • Background jobs & workflows (Celery, Temporal, Airflow) • Redis, caching, rate limiting • Stripe or SaaS billing integrations • AWS experience (ECS, RDS, S3) • Prior AI-first or B2B SaaS startup experience Benefits • Meaningful co-founder equity Company Overview • Shopint is an AI-powered review intelligence platform that helps people understand what customers are actually experiencing.
