[Remote] Engineering Manager, Data Science (Remote, Continental United States)

They are seeking an Engineering Manager, Data Science to lead a team of data scientists and engineers, guiding technical direction and ensuring the delivery of data science solutions while fostering a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Lead consistent 1-on-1s with direct reports focused on growth, wellbeing, and performance
ā¢ Manage the full performance cycle ā goal setting, ongoing feedback, and formal reviews
ā¢ Mentor and develop data scientists and engineers of varying skill levels
ā¢ Foster a collaborative, high-trust team environment where innovation thrives
ā¢ Monitor team engagement, taking proactive steps to address issues
ā¢ Drive team growth through strategic hiring and onboarding
ā¢ Guide the development and delivery of machine learning models, analytical pipelines, and AI-powered solutions
ā¢ Partner with engineering and product teams to align on priorities and ensure smooth execution
ā¢ Promote best practices in data science ā model quality, reproducibility, documentation, and responsible AI
ā¢ Translate complex data science outputs into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
ā¢ Communicate across all levels ā from individual contributors to senior leadership ā with clarity and confidence
ā¢ Align data science efforts with broader business and client objectives
ā¢ Represent and advocate for your team's work, capacity, and needs
Skills
ā¢ 5+ years of experience managing data science or analytics teams with a strong focus on people development
ā¢ Hands-on background in data science, machine learning, or advanced analytics
ā¢ Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and relevant DS/ML frameworks
ā¢ Experience working in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
ā¢ Familiarity with Agile practices and data engineering workflows
ā¢ Outstanding communication skills and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
ā¢ A genuine commitment to growing the people around you
ā¢ Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related); experience is the most relevant factor
ā¢ Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
ā¢ Candidates residing in the DMV area preferred
