[Remote] Consultant, Software Engineer (API Integration, AWS)

The Consultant Software Engineer will lead engineering efforts in the Digital Assistants space, focusing on building scalable solutions and mentoring engineering talent.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities
ā¢ Mentors and trains other team members on design techniques, tools and coding standards
ā¢ Provides strategic advice on using technology to achieve goals
ā¢ Drives cross-collaboration and execution of projects across multiple teams
ā¢ Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and optimal practices
ā¢ Champions the use of DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques
ā¢ Ensures continuous learning and improvement through ongoing training, practice and innovation
ā¢ Manages individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
Skills
ā¢ Strong API Integration Background
ā¢ Extensive experience with API development, including API life-cycle management
ā¢ Familiarity with Apigee or other API Management platforms is a strong plus
ā¢ Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, webhooks, and microservices architecture
ā¢ Extensive hands-on experience with TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and Node.js
ā¢ Ability to write clean, efficient, maintainable, and scalable code across multiple services and layers
ā¢ Proven experience with: AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CodePipeline, CloudFormation or AWS CDK
ā¢ Ability to mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and set engineering standards
ā¢ Lead architectural decisions and technical roadmaps
ā¢ Partner with Product Team members to translate business goals into technical solutions
ā¢ Understand user needs and shape the Digital Assistant capabilities accordingly
ā¢ Comfortable working with internal team members (Product ā UX ā IT) and external teams for integration and E2E ownership/validation
ā¢ Able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
ā¢ Able to work and drive to completion E2E solutions across multiple teams/areas
ā¢ Stay ahead of AI trends and propose new features or improvements

ā¢ Proficiency in one programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript
ā¢ Knowledge of software development lifecycle
ā¢ Proven ability to tackle sophisticated business and development problems
ā¢ Ability to thrive in a team environment
ā¢ Familiarity with Apigee or other API Management platforms is a strong plus
ā¢ Three years of experience in project management is preferred
ā¢ Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus
