[Remote] Computational Biologist II

Responsibilities
⢠Execute bioinformatics and computational biology analyses with guidance from project and team leads
⢠Collaborate effectively with bioinformatics colleagues, cross-functional teams, and external partners
⢠Apply established methods to new and evolving datasets
⢠Document analyses using reproducible research practices
⢠Contribute to scientific reports and presentations
⢠Participate in code reviews and team knowledge-sharing
⢠Continuously learn new tools and approaches to support high-quality, scalable research and analytics initiatives at RefinedScience
Skills
⢠PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, genomics, biostatistics, computer science, or related quantitative discipline (OR Master's with 2+ years relevant experience)
⢠Proficiency in R or Python for data analysis and visualization
⢠Familiarity with Linux/Unix command-line environments
⢠Proficiency with Git/GitHub
⢠Experience working with large-scale biological datasets
⢠Exposure to conda, Docker, or similar tools
⢠Training in and/or demonstrated ability to analyze and extract biological insights from single-cell datasets (e.g., scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CITE-seq, or other multi-omics data)
⢠Understanding of next-generation sequencing technologies and data processing workflows
⢠Solid understanding of statistical methods for biological data analysis (hypothesis testing, differential expression, dimensionality reduction, clustering, etc.)
⢠Strong understanding of molecular biology principles; familiarity with cancer biology, immunology, hematology, or other relevant disease areas
⢠Demonstrated independent research through doctoral thesis work
⢠Author or co-author on peer-reviewed publications (submitted or published)
⢠Experience presenting research findings at lab meetings, seminars, or conferences
⢠Proven ability to formulate research questions, design analytical approaches, and troubleshoot complex data analysis challenges
⢠Experience with single-cell analysis frameworks (Seurat, scverse, Bioconductor packages)
⢠Familiarity with applying AI/ML methods and tools to computational biology tasks
⢠Familiarity with pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, or similar libraries commonly used for data science and scientific computing
⢠Exposure to cloud computing platforms (GCP)
⢠Understanding of experimental design for genomics studies
⢠Strong project and time management skills
⢠Excellent written and verbal communication skills
⢠Collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge and support team members
⢠Prior experience working in Biotech or Pharma environment
