Job Overview:
We are seeking an exceptional Remote Chief Architect to join our team at Wayfair, a leading e-commerce company. As a Chief Architect, you will play a critical role in designing and building a cutting-edge payments platform that integrates with various systems inside and outside Wayfair, driving business growth and innovation. This is a full-time, remote opportunity that offers a competitive salary of $27/hour and the chance to work with a talented team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the technical lead in the payments space, designing and building a platform that interfaces with various systems globally
Develop and drive a long-term technology strategy for Wayfair's Fintech and Steadfastness environment
Design and review code to implement high-quality, scalable, and future-proof services that meet system limits and support long-term vision and strategy
Lead technical discussions across the platform and help reach solid documented resolutions
Drive high-impact building solutions and active development, including design, implementation, and delivery following best practices
Fanatically focus on production readiness for the team, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting
Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches and propose solutions to meet the department's technical vision
Influence and contribute to the department's strategy and roadmap
Support the growth of other engineers through mentoring, pairing, and creating opportunities for education
Be remotely recognized as a collaborative and trustworthy subject matter expert for the broader team's core area
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in engineering, with a preference for candidates with a mix of start-up and large company experience
Ideal: Payments engineering domain expertise, particularly experience with larger-scale integrations (credit cards, financing, BNPL, apps)
E-commerce or customer-facing technology experience on a high-traffic website is a significant plus
Proven experience leading software changes within high-growth environments at scale
Experienced in architecting and building large-scale, cloud-based technology
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience leading teams forward and ability to influence results
Technical Requirements:
Familiarity with cloud-native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure) at scale
Distributed systems experience
Data-based technologies in the cloud
